What you can do with Vril Maps

Built for everyday navigation and exploration — search, route, measure, and save places without leaving the Vril family of sites.

Find locations

Search places by name or address. Results drop a pin and can fill your route start or end automatically.

Driving directions

Set point A and point B, then get a driving route with distance and estimated time over the map.

Right-click tools

Add destinations, drop pins, copy coordinates, centre the map, measure distance, reverse-geocode, save, or share a spot.

Satellite view

Toggle between the street map and satellite imagery when you need terrain, buildings, or aerial context.

Pins & waypoints

Mark points of interest, add waypoints into your route fields, and keep working without losing your place.

Share a location

Share coordinates or a deep link to the map so someone else can open the same spot in Vril Maps.

What people use it for

Practical jobs — from planning a drive to checking what’s on the ground before you go.

Plan a journey Set start and destination with search or right-click, then run directions before you leave.
Scout an area Flip to satellite to see roofs, yards, car parks, and surroundings that street names alone don’t show.
Quick distance checks Measure straight-line distance between two points with the context menu — handy for rough planning.
Keep useful places Save locations in your browser for later, or share a pin with a colleague or friend.

Privacy & data when you use Vril Maps

Vril Maps is designed so map browsing stays light and understandable. Here’s what you should know when you use the service:

  • Place search and reverse lookup are proxied through Vril Maps to OpenStreetMap Nominatim — your browser does not call those services with Vril credentials.
  • Driving routes are calculated via a proxied OSRM service using only the coordinates you choose.
  • Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap (street) or Esri World Imagery (satellite). Those providers receive standard tile requests for the area you view.
  • Saved locations from the context menu are stored in your browser’s local storage on this device — not uploaded as a cloud “places” account feature.
  • If you sign in, account and security data follow the same Vril Identity practices as other Vril sites (login, MFA, and related settings).

Full details live on our Privacy page. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors; satellite imagery attribution appears on the map when that layer is active.
